Candle Care

To get the most out of your candle and ensure a safe, clean burn every time, please follow these important guidelines:

  • Always read the care instructions and warning label included with your order before use.

  • The first burn is crucial. Allow the candle to burn long enough for the entire surface to melt evenly, (2 - 3 hours) reaching the edges of the glass. This helps prevent tunnelling and ensures an even burn with every use.

  • Trim the wick to approximately 5mm before each burn to maintain a steady flame and minimize soot.

  • If you notice smoke or a large flame, extinguish the candle immediately, trim the wick, and relight.

  • Always place your candle on a heat-resistant surface. Never leave it unattended and ensure it's away from flammable objects. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

  • Do not burn the candle if the glass is chipped or cracked.

  • Allow the candle to cool for at least two hours before relighting.

  • Store your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve their quality.

  • Stop burning the candle once 1.5cm of wax remains at the bottom. Burning beyond this point can cause the glass to overheat and potentially break.

  • What do with the last bit of wax

We’ve all been there—staring at those final few millimetres of wax left at the bottom of a candle jar after the wick has burnt out. It’s frustrating, but there’s an easy fix!

Skip the hassle of digging the wax out. Instead, pour hot water into the jar. The heat will melt the leftover wax, causing it to float to the top. Once it cools and sets, you can simply lift the wax out in one piece.

  • Use a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame. This helps maintain the wick’s position and avoids wax splatter, extending the overall burn time. You could also try dipping the wick into the liquid wax using a skewer or other. This will drown the flame without releasing a bitter smoke smell and this will maintain the scent in your room much longer.

  • If the inside of the glass becomes blackened, trim the wick and gently wipe the glass with a dry paper towel once the candle has cooled.

  • Our wicks are made from 100% cotton with braided paper fibres. It’s normal for them to curl slightly as they burn.
